Project Examples
1. Use this page as inspiration, not a cage!
2. In general, an Honors Project could include (based on the list developed by James Madison University):
a. A literature review of annotated bibliography on a topic
b. An extended paper or project on a topic
c. A challenging experiment or observation study to answer a Research Question
d. A computer program that extends course content
e. Analysis of application of course content to a service-learning activity
f. Comparison and analysis of major arguments in key debate connected to the course content
g. Visual representations that extend of supplement course concepts
h. Lead the class in a lesson and discussion related to a topic not already incorporated into the course
3. Specific examples can also be useful.
a. Some of the examples below are missing one of the components (Contract, Project, Report). As more projects are completed and digitized, more examples will be added here.
b. Honors credit is available for most courses at GHC, but we do not currently have digital examples of projects for every course.
c. Every student-instructor-course combination is different, so every project contract is different. What constitutes academic rigor for one student-instructor-course combination may not be the same as rigor for another. The same instructor and same course might have different project contract details for different students – Honors projects are an individualized process, not a generalized one.
