John has been director of student life since January 2003 and oversees the direction of the entire student life team. By supervising, coordinating, directing and engaging the various aspects of student development, he plays a vital role in the administration of campus programming to create a fun and educational environment for all GHC students. Once a student at GHC himself, John is a product of student involvement success and strives to give all students the opportunity to get the most out of their time on campus. Previously to his return to GHC, John was an admissions counselor at the University of West Georgia, and was a reporter for several area newspapers. He is a member of a number of professional associations, such as the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), National Orientation Directors Association (NODA), Association for Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA), Georgia College Personnel Association (GCPA), and has served in a leadership position in several associations. He is currently the President of GCPA and serves the Rome community as a board member of the Rome-Floyd Visitors and Conventions Bureau. John was awarded the Earnest C. Jones National Programming Advisor of the Year Award in 2009 by the Association for Promotion of Campus Activities, and is a past chairman for the Regents Advisory Committee on Student Life. He is married with two sons and enjoys camping, reading, soccer, and football.

Clifton has been at Georgia Highlands College since 2010, when he started the intramural program on the Cartersville Campus. Before coming to GHC, he was a graduate assistant at Berry College where he ran the intramural program and helped coordinate the brand new Cage Athletic & Recreation Center. As the director of the Cartersville Student Center, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the facility. His goal is to increase retention through campus vibrancy, and programming through Student Life and the Student Center is a vital role in achieving that goal. He also oversees Intramural Sports & Recreation on the Cartersville Campus and has worked in both Admissions and Enrollment Management at GHC. He is married with a son, and in his spare time he officiates high school and college football.

Megan has been at Georgia Highlands College since 2017, starting out in a part-time capacity in Student Life. She quickly moved into a full-time role by spring of 2018. Before coming to GHC, she had a successful career with Cartoon Network and Turner Broadcasting in program development and scheduling. Megan’s efforts in Marietta have seen positive results as more students are participating in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, events, and programs. Her main goal is student retention through strong programming in Student Life, and building strong connections and rapport with the students. She has also brought some new ideas and creative contributions to the programming schedule that have been implemented across multiple campuses. She was instrumental in coordinating the guest lecturer Mark McCray from Cartoon Network for Black History Month two consecutive years. Megan is married with two sons and two kitty fur babies. She enjoys hiking, reading, singing, and spending time with her family.

Melissa joined Georgia Highlands College in 2019. Prior to joining the GHC family, Melissa was the admissions counselor for Mercer University’s Douglas Regional Academic Center. Melissa’s passion for student success drew her to a college career where she believes every student can achieve their dreams when given a supportive environment. She’s strives to build a personal relationship with each student on both campuses creating an atmosphere of learning and development. When she isn’t on campus, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.
