REGISTRATION

How do I register?

Registration is processed through the GHC Center for Continuing and Professional Education.

Can I register as a student for a discounted registration fee?

A reduced $10 registration fee is available for area high school and college students. Students should present valid student ID when checking in the morning of the conference.

Can I register the day of the conference?

The Highlands Writers Conference welcomes same day registrants. Conference registration is $45 payable via credit card. Students must present valid student ID for a reduced $10 registration fee.

WORKSHOPS

How are the workshops structured?

Workshops are scheduled for one and a half hours: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Participants may attend one morning workshop and one afternoon workshop in addition to the keynote presentation and film screening. Specific workshop genres and invited writers are available for participants to preview on the Schedule.

Who teaches the workshops?

Descriptions of our invited writers are available on the Schedule.

Can I work with a writer one-on-one?

One-on-one fiction and poetry consults are available for an additional fee as a selection on the conference registration page. Details on times are available on the Schedule.

Travel

When should I arrive?

Registration/Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the conference. Participants who attend remotely can log in using the link sent from registration.

How do I get to the Highlands Writers Conference?

The Highlands Writers Conference is held on the Cartersville campus of Georgia Highlands College located at 5441 Highway 20, Cartersville, GA, 30120. We will hold sessions in the C Building.

  • FROM I-75S TO CARTERSVILLE: From I-75S take Exit 290 toward Rome/Canton. Turn right onto Highway 20W. Travel approximately 1.2 miles and you will find the Cartersville Campus, located at 5441 Highway 20 on the right.
  • FROM I-75N TO CARTERSVILLE: From I-75N take Exit 290 toward Rome/Canton. Turn left onto Highway 20W. Travel approximately 1.2 miles and you will find the Cartersville Campus, located at 5441 Highway 20 on the right.
  • FROM ROME TO CARTERSVILLE: From Highway 411 North, travel approximately 25 miles to Highway 41 South. Take the US-411/GA-20 ramp toward Fairmont/Canton. Turn left onto US-411/GA-20/N. Tennessee Street. Turn right, at first light, onto GA-20. Approximately 1 mile on your left you will find the Cartersville Campus, located at 5441 Highway 20.
