Don’t Let Your Honors Project Collect Dust!

There are many opportunities for you to submit your completed Honors Projects for presentation or publication in State, Regional, and National events and organizations. Presenting for even small audiences at regional conferences is great experience, and any resume or application benefits from being able to say that you entered into a competitive process and were selected to present your research. Check out some of the following possibilities, and check your email for updates from the Honors Director!

The GHC Honors Program can help you cover the costs of attending conferences and presenting research if you are accepted to do so. Please contact the Honors Director for details and current availability of funding. There are many opportunities for you, and some could include those listed below:

Honors students won all the major awards at the 2024 GHC Academic Showcase, and met the Capstone requirement for an Honors Diploma at the same time!

Show off your work and win prizes at the annual GHC Academic Showcase!
Georgia Highlands College Academic Showcase – this annual day of presentations is open to GHC students (in honors or not) but our Honors Students can really steal the show by submitting and presenting work at this event. Applications for this event, which is held in Cartersville in May, are due in early April.  Applications for poster, exhibit, and presentation submissions are welcome, and other forms are possible. Coaching on how to present in various forms is available and various prizes will go to all participants.

Georgia Collegiate Honors Council – a statewide Honors organization that hosts an annual conference with competitive spots for student poster presentations and paper presentations. The in-person 2024 event will take place at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, February 21-22. Submissions are being accepted through mid January.

Georgia Undergraduate Research Conference – a statewide conference for undergraduate students (honors or not) to present completed research in competitive poster presentation and paper presentation sessions. Submissions are usually due in September for this November event.  Go to the host website for more information and to register and submit an abstract to present your work!

Albany State University Undergraduate Research Conference – a statewide conference for undergraduate students (honors or not) to present completed research in competitive poster presentation and paper presentation sessions. Submissions are due in March for this April event. More on submission is available here.

Southern Regional Honors Council a regional Honors organization that hosts an annual conference (Charlotte, Birmingham, Memphis, etc) with competitive spots for student poster presentations and paper presentations. Submissions are due in February for these April events. Click here for presentation submission online. SRHC also offers several additional educational and experiential opportunities to students from member schools and offers competitive grants to fund participation in those opportunities.

Sanctuary Literary Arts Journal – a peer reviewed journal of poetry, prose, and art submitted by honors students and faculty from around the South. The submission deadline is in early March. Accepted articles are included in the publication, which is also showcased at annual conferences hosted by the Southern Regional Honors Council and the National Collegiate Honors Council. Use the online form to submit your poetry, prose, or art.

National Collegiate Honors Councila national Honors organization that provides informational seminars and training for faculty members working with Honors students, provides educational and experiential opportunities to students, and provides some large competitive scholarships for students in Honors Programs.

UReCA (“Eureka”) Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity – a competitive journal run by the National Collegiate Honors Council publishing undergraduate student research. Deadline for consideration for each annual edition of the journal is in mid-October, with submissions received afterwards considered for the following year.

National Conference on Undergraduate Research – a national academic organization that supports student research and hosts an annual conference with competitive spots for student poster presentations and paper presentations. Submissions for the April conference are due in November. Submit your work here.
