Financial Aid Payment
IMPORTANT: If a student’s financial aid covers tuition and fees when your schedule/charges are printed, you will have a negative balance. If financial aid credits are not printed on the schedule/charges as the student expects, the student should contact the Financial Aid Office immediately at 706-295-6311.
This means that a student relying on financial aid to pay fees and registers, but later decides NOT to attend school must drop their classes to avoid unsatisfactory grades or financial liability (for loans, pells, etc.)
Third Party Payments
If paying through a Third Party (ex. 529 Plan or Employer Tuition Assistance), all Intend to Pay/Invoicing Information should be emailed to the Business Office at least two weeks before the Fee Payment Deadline. Send documentation to bursarsoffice@highlands.edu.

A non-refundable CASHNet service fee of 2.95% (minimum $3.00) will be added to your payment. CASHNet accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Please note, international credit cards are subject to a non-refundable service fee of 4.25%. Georgia Highlands College receives no part of the convenience fee nor remuneration from CASHNet, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. ACH or electronic check payments are not charged a service fee.
Please note: Cashnet cannot view any pending financial aid on your account, so you may see the full balance due for the term even if you have pending financial aid. Simply edit the amount you want to pay to the difference between your total and the amount of your pending financial aid.
- Students also have the option to sign up for the Nelnet Payment Plan:
- Credit/Debit card, checking or savings account transactions can be made online.
Returned Check Policy
A $30.00 fee or 5% of the face amount, whichever is greater, is assessed for each check returned by a bank for non-payment. Check cashing privileges may be suspended if two or more checks are returned on an individual or agency and may result in “Cash Only” for future transactions. Nonpayment checks returned by banks could result in withdrawal from school along with processing to legal authorities for collection.
Students should be aware that Georgia Highlands College does pursue NSF and stop payment checks to the fullest extent per Georgia Highlands College collections policy.
