Copyright in the Classroom: Leveraging Open Educational Resources in Your Courses
October 21 | 2:00-3:30pm | Teams | Facilitator: Susanna Smith
Imagine the following scenario: At the last minute, you’re asked to teach a course you’re unfamiliar with. You do have some materials from a colleague, as well as some learning activities you find online. You think some of the materials may be from a textbook, so you are not sure if you can reuse them. This session will tell you everything you need to know about copyright and educational fair use, Creative Commons licensing, and how to leverage this knowledge as you prepare materials for your classes! Workshop objectives:
- Apply the principles of copyright to open educational resources.
- Apply educational fair use practices.
- Recognize the differences in Creative Commons licenses.
- Integrate open educational resources appropriately into your courses.
