Workshops

Quality Matters

Quality Matters (QM) provides professional development via workshops such as Designing Your Online Course (DYOC), Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR), and the Peer Reviewer Course (PRC). CETL regularly facilitates these workshops. Currently scheduled workshops are listed below. Additional workshops may be scheduled upon request by emailing cetl@highlands.edu.

Designing Your Online Course (DYOC)

Thurs., March 9 - Thurs., March 23, 2023  |  Facilitator: Rachel Rupprecht  |  Registration Instructions

"The 'Designing Your Online Course' workshop includes an overview of the QM Rubric and provides a framework for participants to design an online course plan. An integral element of the workshop is an exploration of the eight General Standards of the QM Rubric, focusing on learning objectives and overall course alignment. Participants will complete a Course Development Plan. The plan includes all of the essential Specific Review Standards (SRS) with a column for how the participant will meet the SRS in their course and what resources they will need."

Online Teaching Series

What is the Online Teaching Series?

These workshops are GHC CETL in-house learning opportunities for faculty to explore online course design, development, and delivery. Content is grounded in research-based online learning literature, best practices for online teaching, as well as emergency remote instruction strategies.

Who should participate?

Faculty who are teaching online now or plan to teach online should participate. Attend the Online Course Design and Delivery workshop and the Online Course Development workshop.

How does it work?

The series of workshops are an alternative to Quality Matters workshops, which focus only on online course design. Each workshop is delivered mostly asynchronous over two weeks in D2L. The last day of the workshop will culminate with a guest speaker webinar. Workshop deliverables are required. Time commitment is approximately 8 hours of asynchronous work in D2L.

Participation in both the Course Design and Delivery and Course Development workshops is required. Participation in the workshops will be tracked and completion information can be shared. If you are interested in participating in either workshop, email cetl@highlands.edu.
