Outreach Presentation Request
The Student Support Services staff is available to offer the below presentations to your department or organization.
- Disability Etiquette: You don’t have to feel awkward when interacting with a person who has a disability. This presentation provides tips for you to follow that will help create positive interactions and raise everyone’s comfort levels. (45 mins. – 60 mins.)
- Disability Terminology: The Power of Words – Are you ever confused about what kind of words and terms to use when talking about people with disabilities? This presentation explores disability friendly terminology, to help you interact more comfortably with people with disabilities. (45 mins. – 60 mins.)
- Disability Access: This presentation will increase understanding of the student accommodation process and the role of faculty in providing student accommodations utilizing the FAN and the Disability Access Information Packet. (45 mins. – 60 mins.)
- Individual Accessibility Considerations in Determining Reasonable Accommodations: Access is crucial to student success. Learn how Disability Services facilitates physical, academic, and programmatic access for students with disabilities in higher education. (45 mins. – 60 mins.)
- Mental Health First Aid: in-depth training on how to respond to someone experiencing a mental health crisis (8 hrs.)
- Overview of Student Support Services: An overview of our services. (1 hr.)
- QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer): basic training on how to respond to someone experiencing a mental health crisis (1 hr.)
- Test Anxiety: strategies to manage testing anxiety. (1 hr.)
- Time Management: strategies to manage your time. (1 hr.)
Please submit requests at least 2-3 weeks in advance of the request date. Requests made less than 2 weeks in advance are not guaranteed to be filled.
