Strategic Planning Refresh

Georgia Highlands College began the process of revising its Strategic Plan in summer 2024. We started by surveying internal stakeholders to determine the current Strategic Plan’s alignment with the College’s Mission and Values. We also asked stakeholders whether GHC should write a new Strategic Plan or refresh the existing one. Internal stakeholders indicated that a refresh was more appropriate, as the Strategic Plan still aligned well with GHC’s Mission and Values.

The next step in the process was conducting a S.W.O.T. analysis. This analysis invited various members of the college community to examine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats based on the four existing strategic priorities.

Following that, we hosted Strategic Planning Focus Groups to help define and refine GHC’s vision into Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Focus Groups were held at every campus/site as well as virtually during February and March.

Next Steps

The focus groups provided valuable insights that will help refine Georgia Highlands College’s strategic priorities to better reflect the needs and aspirations of its diverse stakeholders. Themes such as affordability, employee engagement, regional impact, and accessible student services emerged across all discussions.

These findings will guide the next phase of the strategic plan refresh, which includes drafting revised strategic priorities, refining measurable outcomes, and engaging stakeholders in the review of the updated plan before final approval and implementation.
