Passwords for online tests

Passwords are required for all online proctored tests.

D2L administrators will set the password for all D2L exams and will inform Testing Services in a secure manner. Faculty members must not change this password. Faculty shall create their test in D2L at least 1 week in advance of the testing window.

Rescheduling

If a student signed up for a testing session and would like to reschedule during the testing period, the testing staff will attempt to accommodate the student without consulting the professor.

Registration before the testing period begins

If a student would like to take his/her test before the scheduled testing period, the testing staff may accommodate him/her if:

  1. The faculty member sends an email to testing@highlands.edu that includes the name of the student, the student’s GHC ID number, the class, the CRN, and the professor’s name.
  2. After receiving consent from the faculty member, testing staff will attempt to register the student in an existing testing session.

Registration after the testing period ends

If a student missed the testing period, the testing staff may accommodate him/her if:

  1. The faculty member sends an email to testing@highlands.edu that includes the name of the student, the student’s GHC ID number, the class, the CRN, and the professor’s name.
  2. After receiving consent from the faculty member, testing staff will attempt to register the student for a makeup session at the Cartersville Testing Center. Makeup testing sessions will be offered immediately after the testing period.

Time Limit

Faculty members are encouraged to place a time limit on their exams. If a faculty member chooses not to place a time limit, Testing Services will impose a limit of two hours for each exam. In addition, D2L administrators will place a limit of two hours on D2L exams.

If a faculty member is using paper tests and wants completed tests returned to him/her, please include your campus/location and department in the comment field.

If a faculty member is using paper tests but does not need the completed tests returned, please include “shred completed tests after # days” in the comment field.
