English and Math Placement

Disclaimer

The following refers only to a student’s placement into English and mathematics courses for Fall 2025 and beyond. To determine the course a student should enroll in, please see the Core Curriculum in the College Catalog.

English Placement

LSE Hold – Default placement for students.

Course Placement – ENGL 1101 and ENGL 0999

LSE Exempt – The student is exempt from ENGL 0999 if they meet one of criteria.

  • High school GPA of a 2.5 or above,
  • ACT English or Reading score of 17 or above,
  • SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section score of 480 or above, or
  • Accuplacer Next-Generation Reading score of 237 or above and an Accuplacer WritePlacer score of 4 or above.

Course Placement – ENGL 1101

Math Placement

LSM2 Hold – Default placement for students.

Course Placement – Students will be placed into one of the following pairs of courses:

  • MATH 1001 and MATH 0997,
  • MATH 1101 and MATH 0998, or
  • STAT 1401 and STAT 0996.

LSM1 Hold – Students exempt all math corequisite courses, excluding MATH 0999, if they meet one of the following criteria.

  • High school GPA of 2.7 to 3.2,
  • ACT Math score of 17 to 20,
  • SAT Math section score of 440 to 510, or
  • Accuplacer Next-Generation Mathematics score of 258 to 269.

Course Placement – Students will be placed into one of the following options:

  • MATH 1001,
  • MATH 1101,
  • STAT 1401, or
  • MATH 1111 and MATH 0999.

LSM Exempt – Students exempt all math corequisite courses if they meet one of the following criteria.

  • High school GPA of 3.2 or above,
  • ACT Math score of 20 or above,
  • SAT Math section score of 510 or above, or
  • Accuplacer Next-Generation Mathematics score of 269 or above.

Course Placement – Students will be placed into one of the following options:

  • MATH 1001,
  • MATH 1101,
  • STAT 1401, or
  • MATH 1111.

Placement Test Preparation is offered to prospective and current GHC students.
