• Studies have shown that student are more successful if they complete all learning support requirements by the 1^st two semesters of starting.
• However, if a student wishes to take the required learning support classes their 2^nd semester @ GHC, they are eligible to do so by filling out a learning support wavier.
• All students must have completed all learning support requirements before they have reached a max of 30 credit hours.

• A professional advisor will register you for classes. You can reach a professional advisor by joining the Virtual Hub via Microsoft Teams or by emailing advising@highlands.edu for assistance.
• Please note that the Learning Support hold will remain on your account until you have completed and passed all Learning Support requirements for the semester. Failure to pass the required classes will result in the hold remaining on your account and the Professional Advisors will have to register you for the next term.

• LE – stands for Learning Support English
• LM – stands for Learning Support Math
• All students must register for classes with an advisor if they have a learning support hold. The advisor will assist in the registration process.

Learning Support Waivers are due before the start of the term and no later than the first week of classes.

Learning Support holds will be removed once grades have posted for the term at the end of the semester. If a student fails to meet the requirement for learning support, the hold will remain on the student's account.

There are advantages of both:

• Same instructor, same style of teaching that you become familiar with
• Different instructor, different teaching style that may help a student who isn’t pertaining the material from the credit level course but does with the support course

LS classes are between 2 and 3 credit hours. If a student takes 15 credit hours within that semester, they are able to stay on track to graduate on time.
