This free pedagogical professional development event includes a networking fair, roundtable discussions, a professional luncheon, keynote on supporting students' mental health, and concurrent sessions on motivation & engagement, building your faculty toolkit, logistics at GHC, designing backward, and using D2L like a pro.

We’ll cover early alert systems, attendance verification, Banner 9 usage, final grade entry, handling incompletes, deciphering F% and F$, understanding withdrawals versus Fs, managing email accounts, navigating printing services, obtaining IDs, and optimizing travel arrangements.
By proactively organizing your course, you'll have the flexibility to adapt assignments as needed without undue stress, as you're already aware of the desired outcomes. This session will provide guidance on backward course design and highlight simple yet impactful changes to improve the students’ connection to you and the material.

Dr. Chris Pisarik: Supporting Students' Mental Health
Navigating the landscape of mental health within the college classroom has emerged as a top concern for instructors as we transition beyond the pandemic era. Finding the balance between helping students who are struggling without overwhelming ourselves with extra stress and work can be difficult. In this keynote, Dr. Pisarik will address how to help students navigate healthy and successful transitions into, through, and out of the college experience. Dr. Pisarik has dedicated his career as a counselor, teacher, and student affairs professional to facilitating college students’ growth, development, mental health and wellness. As the current Interim Head of the Department of Counseling at the University of North Georgia, he focuses on training skilled and passionate college counselors and student affairs professionals who can do the same. He prioritizes providing students a wide range of hands-on practice, professional experience, and practical knowledge.
