Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Develop the skills to maintain your health

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program is designed to equip aspiring healthcare students with the essential skills required to support individuals in maintaining their optimal health.

Georgia Highlands College offers the Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate program thru the Center for Continuing and Professional Education. This comprehensive course integrates classroom instruction, hands-on lab experiences, and clinical practice. Classes will take place at the Georgia Highlands College Campus in Cartersville, GA. Successful completion of the program qualifies students to sit for the State of Georgia CNA Certification exam.

The course follows the federally mandated guidelines set by the Nursing Home Reform Act of 1987 for nursing assistants working in long-term care under direction of a Licensed Nurse to provide assistance with the activities of daily living. Communications, clinical competency, and developing the ability to work as a member of a team are key components of the course. Supervised practice in campus and community facilities is also used to develop basic nursing skills.
