My Check Admissions Status shows I have been accepted to the college. What do I do next?
Regular Admissions Student Checklist
- Complete the orientation process - learn more at orientation.highlands.edu
- Provide remaining immunization records and transcripts to the Admissions Office.
- Immunization records should be emailed to imhold@highlands.edu.
- All official transcripts must be sent directly from your previous school institution to GHC Office of Admissions either electronically to admitme@highlands.edu or through direct mail: 3175 Cedartown Highway, Rome, GA 30161.
- Turn in Proof of Lawful Presence (learn more at lawp.highlands.edu). You can bring this to any campus front desk or email them directly to: admitme@highlands.edu
- Apply for Financial Aid.
- If you have not already applied for financial aid, please go to Studentaid.gov and submit your FAFSA application today. The GHC school code is: 009507. It can take 6 to 8 weeks to complete the financial aid process, so don't delay! For more information regarding filling out the FAFSA, please visit our Financial Aid website.
- Complete parking pass form before your registered orientation date. You will need to know your GHC ID number, your license plate number, and the details about the vehicle you'll be driving (make, model, etc.).
- Upload your own photo for your GHC student ID card before your registered orientation date.
- Get comfortable with all your GHC student accounts, especially your GHC student email. Learn more about set up at tech.highlands.edu.
- Pay your tuition and fees by the published deadline dates, remembering to enroll in our Payment Plan option while it is available!
- Review the academic calendar for important dates and deadlines.
- Visit the Virtual Hub, where you can connect virtually one-on-one with a representative, if you need more assistance.
Dual Enrollment Student Checklist
- Apply for Dual Enrollment Funding.
- If you have not already submitted your funding application, please go to the GAfutures Dual Enrollment Application web page and submit the application today.
- Complete Pre-Orientation via the Check Admissions Status. Pre-orientation introduces students to life at GHC and explains how to login to your student accounts.
- Register for new student orientation via the Check Admissions Status.
- Review the academic calendar for important dates and deadlines.
- Provide remaining immunization records and transcripts to the Admissions Office. Immunization records should be emailed to imhold@highlands.edu. All official transcripts must be sent directly from your school to the GHC Office of Admissions.
- Pay your tuition and fees not covered by Dual Enrollment Funding (science lab fees, unfunded courses, hours over the 30 allotted funded hours.)
- Get your parking decal and textbooks/course materials.
- Check to see if your classes require physical books or access codes through the Bookstore. If so, watch for these to arrive in the mail or for codes to be sent to your GHC student email a few days before classes begin.
- Sign and Submit a FERPA form to the Registrar’s Office at registrar@highlands.edu to allow authorized individuals access to your student records.
- Georgia Highlands College (GHC) will disclose a student’s information to their parents and/or legal guardian from the student’s academic record provided GHC has on file a student’s written consent. Visit the Registrar’s FERPA Informational Guide to learn more.
- GO TO CLASS! All students need to be registered prior to the start of classes and the expectation is that students at GHC attend class starting on day one!
