GHC Yellow Ribbon Application

Georgia Highlands College has elected to enter into an agreement with the Department of Veterans Affairs to make additional coverage available to a limited number of Veterans who are paying out-of-state tuition through the Yellow Ribbon Program.

For students to be considered, the requester must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a veteran or designated transferee. Active duty service-members and their spouses do not qualify
  2. Submit a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) verifying Post 9/11 eligibility at the 100% tier. Fry Scholarship recipients are not eligible for Yellow Ribbon
  3. Submit a Veterans Enrollment Form.
  4. Submit a copy of DD214, Member 4 copy (if applicable)
  5. Be considered an "out-of-state" resident for tuition purposes because he/she does not meet the criteria for "in-state" residency or “out-of-state” waivers. Recipients must apply for residency or waivers first
  6. Georgia Highlands College must be listed as the home institution.
  7. Must be a degree seeking student.

*Students must maintain satisfactory academic status, conduct, and attendance throughout the academic year as defined in GHC policy to maintain eligibility for Yellow Ribbon. Yellow Ribbon coverage will be made available on a first-come, first serve basis. Students must complete registration and submit all requested documents before requesting Yellow Ribbon. Interested students can email va@highlands.edu to begin the verification process. Eligible students will be wait-listed once the Yellow Ribbon capacity is met. Schedule adjustments after enrollment certification is completed can result in a VA overpayment and reduction in Yellow Ribbon coverage.
