Here is your opportunity to share your thoughts with the subcommittees as they prepare proposals for the four topics:

• Career Readiness and Career Services

  • Chair: Joy Hambrick
  • Description: Creates a dedicated pipeline to connect employers and students, potentially leading to full-time employment. Could also include services for students in Associates pathways. Ensures students are aware of opportunities from Day 1. Prepares students to enter the workforce, building skills that make them a valuable employee like technology and financial literacy, soft skills, and etiquette. This would involve curricular and co-curricular experiences.

• Technology Literacy

  • Co-Chairs: Ryan O’Connor & Adam Bowman
  • Description: Ensures students have the foundational technology skills necessary to be successful in the classroom and in the workforce like AI (ethics, literacy, prompt engineering), and overall technology skills (email, productivity tools, D2L).

• Learning and Student Support

  • Co-Chairs: Cindy Wheeler & Tara Suswal
  • Description: Focuses on foundational skills and support services to help students be successful in the classroom. This could include tutoring, FYE, metacognition, reading comprehension skills, etc. It could also include tweaking GHC’s approach to learning support/gateway courses, focusing on supporting foundational skills in these core areas.

• Onboarding, Orientation, and Student Readiness

  • Co-Chairs: Clifton Puckett & Meredith Bruno
  • Description: This would be looking at what it takes to become a Highlands student and what students need for a successful start. 
    • Part 1: Student interest in GHC to acceptance.
    • Part 2: Acceptance to course registration.
    • Part 3: Building college skills while starting out (first semester, year of classes)
