Spring 2023 Virtual Orientation & Welcome to Campus

Please use this as a reference for Charger Orientation questions for Spring 2023. Please check out the orientation website: orientation.highlands.edu.

New to GHC students (excluding athletes, transients, post bach, and Dual Enrolled) are required to go through a three-step orientation process.

  1. Pre-Orientation
  2. Virtual Orientation
  3. Welcome to Campus

Step 1: Pre-Orientation

Students access their pre-orientation in their Check Admissions Status (CAS) page. At the end of their Pre-O, they will have a questionnaire to complete. Advisors use the answers to the questionnaire to register them for their first semester of classes about two weeks before their virtual orientation date. After an advisor registers them, they are sent an email, to their Student Email. This email includes instructions for how to check their schedule, make changes, and a Digital Packet.

Step 2: Virtual Orientation

After completing the Pre-O in their CAS, students will then register for a Virtual Orientation. You can see the times/dates on the Orientation Website: orientation.highlands.edu.  This is an hour-long session where students learn about advising, financial aid, tuition payment, Nelnet payment plan, and general getting started information. The zoom link is always the same: virtualorientation.highlands.edu. The zoom link is also in their CAS as well as emailed to them in advance.

Virtual Orientation Dates:

  • Thursday, November 17th – 10 am
  • Tuesday, November 29th – 6 pm
  • Friday, December 2nd – 10 am
  • Tuesday, December 6th – 10 am

  • Monday, December 19th – 12 pm

  • Tuesday, January 3rd – 3 pm

Step 3: Welcome to Campus

All face-to-face students are required to attend a Welcome to Campus orientation. During this two-hour on campus event, students will learn more about their academic school as well as attend two break-out sessions that include options like: Picking a Major, Technology Tips, Classroom Success, Paying for College, Student Support Services, and Getting Involved (and we are open to more!). They also can get their student ID and parking pass. Advisors and financial aid counselors will also be on hand for questions or schedule changes. Students register for this event by invitation through a Microsoft Form after attending a virtual orientation.
