You may be asking yourself what is the First Year Experience? At GHC, FYE is a collaborative effort between cross-campus partners to bring students: Orientation, Extended Orientation, Common Theme, and Special Topics Courses.
Last year GHC tried something new and chose a theme of China as a centralized focus for academic, cultural, and social activities, both in and out of the classroom. In addition, Student Life also created a new series of events called #Adulting, providing students with some of the life skills that we all need such as sewing, car basics, and banking basics.
The Common Theme for 2018-2019 will be Wellness.
We will be seeking out ideas for incorporating wellness into in and outside the classroom learning. We are looking to plan programs for the academic year that focuses on many elements of wellness, such as:
- financial
- mental health
- social
- community
- college completion
- physical health
