Turkey Trot 5k hosted by the United Way

The Wellness Team has been working hard to come up with activities to help the faculty and staff at GHC continue progressing towards optimal health. One of the best ways to get out and get active, as well as support the local community, is to participate (jogging or walking, it doesn’t matter) in a community sponsored event such as a 5k.

On Nov. 22nd, the United Way is hosting the Cartersville Turkey Trot 5k and we would like to have as many GHC participants as possible. Imagine the impact a flood of GHC employees wearing their faculty in-service GHC shirts would have on those participating in this annual event! Proceeds go to the United Way of Bartow County.

What’s in it for you:
-the pride of completing a 5k (3.1 miles)
-the pride of giving back to your community
-the health benefits that go along with preparing for this kind of event
-promote the college in a positive light
-the support you will give and receive from other GHC’ers working towards the same goal
-you might even win a turkey (awarded to the top finisher of each age group)

Below are links to the United Way webpage with a link for registration and a link to a Couch to 5k program. You don’t have to be an elite athlete to do this. All it takes is about 20-30 minutes, 3 times per week to reap the rewards. The cost is only $20 and the course is mostly flat. Grab a buddy and let’s get ready for a 5k!
