About

Your Work Deserves to be Shared!

Academic Showcase is now celebrating its 5th year! This year, we’re expanding our celebration to include more than one day and more than one event. On Friday, May 1, 2026, we will host what has traditionally been our Academic Showcase—an event dedicated to showcasing the scholarship and research of our students. We are reworking this day to honor a broad range of scholarly work, whether artistic, technology-related, poster-based, or presented orally. This will also mark the second year we incorporate the Annual Public Speaking Competition semi-final and final rounds. For more information about the Public Speaking Competition, please visit the website.

In addition, we are excited to introduce for a second year an event celebrating the academic achievements of our faculty. On Thursday, May 7, 2026, we will host an evening of fellowship and research for our faculty members as part of our 2nd Annual Faculty Research and Spotlight Event.  Learn more about this special evening by visiting the website.

Students, faculty, and staff at Georgia Highlands College engage in exceptional academic and creative work year-round. From first-year students beginning their educational journey to our accomplished faculty and staff, your contributions deserve to be shared with the broader community. By presenting at the Academic Showcase, students strengthen their competitiveness for transfer, baccalaureate programs, and graduate school, while enhancing their résumés or CVs and gaining invaluable experience communicating complex ideas.

Share It at the Academic Showcase

Be it class projects, personal research, posters, artwork, music, writing, video production, or just about anything else, we want you to share it at the GHC Academic Showcase. If you want to learn more about submitting, visit our Learn More page.

Prizes!

This year’s Academic Showcase will feature two main categories—Scholarship and Research—each with its own specialized tracks to help you present your work in the way that best fits your project.

Scholarship Tracks

  • Creative Expression: Artistic, literary, multimedia, or performance-based work that demonstrates creativity and original thought.

  • Critical Inquiry: Analytical or interpretive work that explores ideas, texts, theories, or cultural questions.

Research Tracks

  • Empirical Discovery: Projects that involve data collection, experimentation, fieldwork, or observation.

  • Applied Design: Practical, innovative, or solution-focused work, including prototypes, business models, instructional design, or community-focused projects.

To recognize outstanding student work, there will also be two prize tracks, with a 1st-place and 2nd-place award given in each of the four categories.

This structure provides multiple pathways for students across all disciplines to shine—whether your work is artistic, analytical, scientific, or hands-on.

The Georgia Highlands College Academic Showcase aligns with strategic initiatives of the University System of Georgia, such as Momentum Approach. The Academic Showcase is supported by the administration of GHC.
