Fall diplomas will be mailed out around mid-February. Please make sure that your address is correct in our system.

Spring (May) Diplomas will be available for pickup beginning June 15th. Please email sbeideck@highlands.edu if you wish to pick your diploma up at a campus other than Floyd. Contact that campus to make sure your diploma is there before going to pick it up. Diplomas not picked up will be mailed to the address in score beginning July 15th.

There are no tickets sold and no maximum number of guests allowed. Seating is first come, first serve.

Please be aware that check in time is 1 hour prior to the ceremony.


Graduates who wish to pick-up their diploma from any GHC campus other than Floyd Campus at Rome must notify the Registrar’s Office at sbeideck@highlands.edu . Unclaimed diplomas will be mailed to the student address on file.

All fines, library fees, and traffic tickets must be cleared before you receive a diploma. If you participated in a financial aid loan program, you must have an exit counseling interview. It is the petitioner’s responsibility to determine if financial obligations are assessed on their accounts.

Students desiring their name to display differently must submit the Student Record Change (Name Change Form) with proper documentation prior to printing.

Graduating students participating in commencement are instructed to access the stage to receive recognition and to stand for long periods of time. Students with disabilities who may need accommodations should contact sss@highlands.edu to ensure proper staffing arrangements are made prior to commencement activities. Accommodation requests should be submitted to Student Support Services immediately after the Graduation Application is submitted to the office of Registrar.

Honors are calculated on all credit hours earned at Georgia Highlands College. Honors status for the graduation commencement program are determined by grades posted as of fall semester.
Cum Laude – 3.50 – 3.69 GPA
Magna Cum Laude – 3.70 – 3.89 GPA
Summa Cum Laude – 3.90 – 4.00 GPA

Formal dress/coat and tie are not required for graduation; however, all items of clothing and shoes visible beyond the cap and gown attire should be black or dark in color. Please note the graduating class will remain standing for extended periods of time throughout the ceremony and comfortable shoes are strongly encouraged. (Tennis shoes are discouraged unless absolutely necessary.)


You may authorize an agent to pick up your diploma with your written and signed request. The agent must provide their own picture ID.

You should return the diploma to the Registrar’s Office at Georgia Highlands College on the Rome Campus the correction will be made. The $25 replacement fee will be charged if the error was yours rather than the College’s.

Students who will complete degree requirements one summer semester after their matriculating class may request to participate in the annual commencement ceremony the May preceding the degree conferral date. Students may only have 1-6 credits outstanding in order to participate. If approved by the Registrar, the student will walk and their name will be called, but they are not receiving a degree, their name will appear in the commencement program with a note. As part of the petition process, the student must submit a Request to Participate in Commencement form. Students must file a petition to graduate application prior to submitting this form.
