Final Chance to Enroll in the Shared Sick Leave Program for 2024

Benefits Open Enrollment is also the time to enroll in GHC’s Shared Sick Leave Program, and tomorrow is your final chance to do so. Don’t delay, join today!

The Shared Sick Leave Program allows those who have an FMLA-qualifying situation and have exhausted all of their sick and vacation leave balances to apply to use up to 160 hours of paid leave from the shared sick leave pool. You can apply for hours up to three times per calendar year for a total of 480 hours!

This is an excellent opportunity to give back to your fellow Chargers who may not have enough leave to cover their absence while taking care of their or family member’s health. It also provides some security that if you find yourself in such a situation, that you might be able to have extra paid leave to fall back on. It’s a win, win!

To join, you must complete the shared sick leave form and donate between 8 and 80 hours of sick leave in 8 hour increments (i.e., 8 hours, 16 hours, 24 hours, etc.). Hours are taken in January of each year, and you must have at least 40 hours of sick leave remaining after your donation.

If you’re interested in joining the program, you can find the enrollment form here.
