Moonshine and Murder*–4/19/23, 12:30-2:00 w/ MITCHUM

Please join us for an afternoon with local icon and storyteller, Gary Mitchum Reeves (better known simply as ‘Mitchum’). In an interview with Dr. Scotty Akemon, GHC Professor of History and Political Science, Mitchum will share stories about his life bootlegging (illegally transporting) moonshine, being accused of a murder he didn’t commit, and growing up too fast in the South. Hilarious, heartbreaking, and poignant, his stories provide compelling descriptions of life and culture in rural Northwest Georgia in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.
