Compliance Month – Did You Know?

Did you know that USG has a policy regarding outside employment?

According to this updated policy, all-full time employees “must obtain written approval prior to engaging in compensated outside activities that relate to the employee’s expertise or responsibilities as a USG employee. Such activities include consulting, teaching, speaking, and participating in businesses, professional, or service enterprises”.

If you are considering another position which is compensated and which relates to your employment responsibilities, you must complete the attached HR 103a – Conflict of Interest or Commitment Disclosure Statement and submit it for the proper approval annually. This form is in place to ensure that the employee’s outside activities do not create a conflict of interest, which would be in violation of our Ethics Policy.

Still, always keep in mind that you want to avoid any sort of conflict of interest, or the perception of a conflict of interest, even if express approval is not required according to this policy.

More information on this policy can be found via the link below: https://www.usg.edu/policymanual/section8/C224/#p8.2.18_personnel_conduct
