University System of Georgia officials announced Tuesday they will offer a new degree called “nexus,” based on a curriculum to be developed by the colleges, businesses and experts in high-demand industries, that they hope will better prepare students for the workforce.

Nooks confirmed as president of Gordon State College

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia on Feb. 13 named Kirk Nooks president of Gordon State College in Barnesville. Nooks will assume his new position on June 1. Nooks is currently president at Metropolitan Community College-Longview in Lee’s Summit, Mo.

The Georgia Southern University theatre department will put on  House of Yes Feb. 21 through Feb. 28. House of Yes follows the story of college student Marty Pascal who brings his new fiancée home during a Thanksgiving hurricane, much to the displeasure of his mentally unbalanced and possessive twin sister “Jackie”.

ATHENS, Ga. – Few people may know about Mary Frances Early, but she made history in Georgia. Early was the first African American to graduate from the University of Georgia. Back in 1962, she graduated with a master’s degree in music education.

Georgia Southern University’s Student Government Association has started a fundraising campaign to help GS students with financial problems. The “For the Love of Blue” campaign is an fundraising campaign that seeks to raise funding for students that are suffering through extreme financial hardships.

Georgia college officials and the presidents of its two largest universities told state lawmakers Tuesday that legislation aimed at protecting the rights of people invited to speak on campuses is unnecessary and could increase security costs and raise liability.
