Annually, CVS Caremark conducts a review of the formulary drug list for the upcoming plan year. The formulary review process may result in the addition of prescription drug therapies that are clinically more appropriate and effective than prior drug therapies. As more effective drug therapies are added to the formulary, less effective and cost comparable drug therapies are removed from the formulary.
USG employees impacted by the 2018 formulary changes will begin receiving the attached notification this week and are encouraged to consult with their physician on recommended alternative drug therapies to consider. As a reference, the 2018 Formulary Drug List is available on the USG benefits website at http://www.usg.edu/hr/benefits/2018_benefits/pharmacy for employees.
