New SGA President elected!

GHC sophomore Joshua Lucas Lester was elected the new president of the Student Government Association following a special election held this month. The election results were announced on Friday, Oct. 7 at the SGA meeting.

The online election included 653 student votes cast during its two-week duration.

Lester won the election with 34% of the votes. His opponents, sophomores Chrysanthus Nkengfack and Madison Harris, pulled 27.11% and 25.57% of the votes respectively. The remaining 13.17% of the votes were incomplete.

The special election was necessary when the previous SGA president dropped below the minimum number of credit hours required to serve in the position.

The Student Government Association meets on the first and third Fridays of each month during the academic year at 11:00am in the video conference rooms at all GHC locations. The SGA consists of representatives from student organizations at GHC plus several student-at-large positions. The meetings are open to any interested student, faculty, or staff member, so please encourage your students to attend a meeting if they are curious about what SGA does or contact the department of Student Life for more information.
