Talk on Teaching Science to Non Science Majors: 5/20 at 1:00pm in Cville

Hi All: As part of the TLC mini-grant program Soumitra is brining a speaker to the Cartersville campus next week. Here are the details from Soumitra:

Dr. Sharmsitha Basu-Dutt is a professor and the Chair of Chemistry Department at the University of West Georgia. She is a well published author, a great teacher and has received numerous awards including the USG BOR Teaching Award. In addition, she has obtained several grants from different public and private organizations (including NSF and NIH). She also serves as the STEM coordinator for UWG, and the advisor to the pre-engineering program. She will be on our Cartersville campus on Wednesday, May 20 at 1:00 PM in room 224 of the Academic Building, giving a talk on how to teach science to non-science majors. If you are around and your calendar permits, please plan on joining this event. In view of the fact that we are starting a pre-engineering program, and focusing more on our STEM area now, this may be a good opportunity for all to get our questions answered particularly in regard to recruitment and advising of pre-engineering students. Hope to see you there.
