Emergency Information

As you probably already know, the weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight calls for possible black ice and snow. If one or more campuses closes during the class time today or this evening, or before classes tomorrow morning, GHC will inform you in the following ways:

• GHC Notify. If you have not signed up for this free service, please do so at this link and follow the directions: https://www.highlands.edu/site/connect/ Please note that you may or may not be charged for a text message depending on the plan you chose with your cell phone provider. You may opt out of being contacted via text message.
• The GHC website. Notification will appear on the home page.
• Channel 11, Atlanta (NBC). Channel 11 allows us to break out each campus so that if conditions are different from one campus to the other, you can learn which campuses are open and which are closed.
• Email messages on your GHC account.

At GHC, we never close the institution before bad weather sets in, unless we know for certain that a particular event will occur, such as a hurricane moving inland. Snow and ice predictions are very uncertain, and we wait to see the conditions on the ground before making a decision on closures. Please note that if you receive no weather-related message from any of the above sources, we will adhere to our regular class schedule.
