New Intranet

New Intranet (Employee Portal)

This new location will serve as our Intranet or (Employee Portal) going forward.  This is the location sometimes referred to as the “Faculty/Staff” section off of our main website.  This is intended to be the location that will house all employee-related items that are determined to be necessary protected content.  The idea behind this new Intranet is to create a site designed specifically to house all employee-related information in one location.  This site is for protected content only intended for employees, containing important links, documentation, forms, and other important information necessary to conduct your job.  Our goal is to eventually house all public and future student related information on our main (www) website, all employee protected content on this Intranet site (Employee Portal), and all current/ongoing student related items onto a new student portal site coming very soon (myGHC.highlands.edu).

We’ve attempted to better organize all of the previous Intranet content into four initial groupings: Human Resources, Information Technology, Faculty, and General Information.  We’ve placed all relevant content from the current Intranet into one of these locations and attempted to group the items accordingly within each of these areas.  We also have looked around the rest of our www instance and attempted to begin moving some of the additional employee content also into one of these four groupings.  I am sure there may be additional content that will be identified or perhaps others will point out, which can later be organized into one of these grouping or perhaps the need for a new grouping not yet identified.

It is very important to understand, this initial creation and rollout of these four distinct areas, resulted from the current content we were able to find at this stage.  Had additional content presented itself in this process, we would have created additional groupings to go along with these initial four.  As additional needs arise with sufficient content, we will be happy to add additional groupings/boxes to hold and present the additional content.

Finally, there are two feeds at the bottom of this new site.  On the left, you will find the latest items presented from our group email service we receive each morning, GHC Inform. On the right, you will find the feed from the latest events from the GHC calendar, the Employee Calendar.  While this is not a new calendar, it is housed in a new system and presented in a new location.  The actual calendar link can be found under the “General Information” box.

The new Intranet location will only be accessible by employees with current network credentials.  This site will be located accordingly on one of our campus locations or remotely with a secure VPN connection, which you can request via your supervisor completing the online VPN request form, now to be located under the Information Technology section of this new Intranet site.  Currently, the old site also still hosts this form.
