GHC Athletics names Tucker Hughes as Head Softball Coach

GHC Athletics welcomes Tucker Hughes as the new Head Softball Coach of the Lady Charger Softball program.

Tucker Hughes, beginning his first year as Head Softball Coach, is no stranger to the Georgia Highlands College athletics program. Spending 3 seasons in the Chargers baseball program as the Pitching Coach-Recruiting Coordinator, Hughes & the Chargers saw great success on & off the field. The Chargers produced 2 GCAA Championships & 1 Region 17 Championship while completing a 120-47 record. In Hughes 3 seasons at Georgia Highlands College, he has helped produce 19 All-Conference Players, 4 All-Americans, 11 NJCAA All-Academic Team members, 7 Region 17 All-Tournament Team members, 5 Gold Gloves (1 National Gold Glover), 3 Male Scholar Athlete of The Year awards, 6 Pitcher of The Week Honors, 14 Player of The Week Honors, 1 Pitcher of The Year, & 2 no-hitters. The Chargers 2022 recruiting class ranked 2nd in the country while the 2023 class finished in the top 20. The Chargers also set many school & individual baseball records.

Hughes has also spent time at Waldorf University & University of the Ozarks producing 7 All-Conference Players, 4 All-Region Players, 5 Academic All-Conference Players, 1 Academic All-American, numerous Pitcher & Player of The Weeks, set individual & school records, & producing 1 MLB Draft Pick.
Hughes played at D2 Ohio Valley University. He and his wife, Hannah Hughes, reside in Rome, GA with their dog Spot.
