Today’s question was about the USG Ethics Policy.

Q: Which of the following statements is NOT true?

A. USG employees must be good stewards of the resources and information entrusted to our care.
B. USG employees have an affirmative duty to report wrongdoing.
C. USG policy prohibits retaliation against those who report wrongdoing.
D. It is preferred that employees report wrongdoing to their immediate supervisors; however other reporting avenues are available to include the Ethics & Compliance Reporting Hotline.
E. The Ethics Policy is not applicable to volunteers, vendors and members of the Board of Regents.

Correct Answer: E. The Ethics Policy is not applicable to volunteers, vendors and members of the Board of Regents. Choice “E.” is NOT true. The USG Ethics Policy applies to all members of the USG community which includes:

1. All members of the Board of Regents;
2. All individuals employed by, or acting on behalf of, the USG or one of the USG institutions, including volunteers, vendors, and contractors; and,
3. Members of the governing boards and employees of all cooperative organizations affiliated with the USG or one of its institutions.

Answer choices “A” thru “D” are all true. USG employees must be good stewards of the resources and information entrusted to our care, USG employees do have an affirmative duty to report wrongdoing and unethical practices in a timely manner and must also refrain from retaliating against those who do. The USG also maintains an Ethics & Compliance Reporting Hotline as an additional way to report wrongdoing. The Ethics Line can be accessed from the below link:
