Advising at GHC

If a student asks to see an advisor, please see the best way to help them below. Thank you!

Drop-In Advising:

Our drop-in advising times will continue through the Virtual HUBMondays 9am-1pm and Thursdays 1pm-6pm. If a student is on campus, and the advisor is available, they can meet in-person.

  • These are 15-20 minute advising meetings where we can answer quick questions, change schedules, or help students learn about a resource.

First and Second Semester Advising:

Students should be directed to Navigate to make an appointment (through their student portal myghc.highlands.edu). They will have the option to do these in-person or online through Zoom.

  • During these appointments, students work with their assigned advisor on their academic plan, registration, and academic goals. They last between 30 minutes and an hour. Their assigned advisor is listed in Navigate, Online Advising, and SCORECard.

Early Bird Advising (EBA):

Students should be directed to Navigate to make an appointment. EBA is for students that do not have an assigned advisor. They will have the option to choose who they would like to meet with as well as the option for on-campus or online via Zoom.

  • During these appointments, students work with their advisor on their academic plan, registration, and academic goals. They last between 30 minutes and an hour.

Athletes/Dual Enrollment:

  • Athletes should be referred to their coach and will have a hold on their account indicating that they are an athlete.
  • Dual enrollment students should be referred to their HS Counselor, and they will also have a hold on their account indicating that they are a dual enrollment student.
