This year the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) has several types of educational development opportunities for you! Registration is now open for our semester schedule of events which includes:
- Faculty Learning Communities:
- CETL FLCs based on books – Dare to Lead and Teaching at Its Best
- Part-Time Faculty FLC
- Chancellor Learning Scholar FLCs
- Labs – 4-day, asynchronous workshops culminating with a practical deliverable and synchronous meeting
- Online Teaching Series – 2-week, asynchronous workshop on the design and delivery of online courses
- Webinars – Synchronous workshops
Perusall has also arrived at GHC! This educational tool helps students engage with articles, documents, books, videos, etc. and collectively annotate on those media. See the Perusall LibGuide for details.
The Cartersville campus is now home to the new Video Recording Studio (VRS) which allows faculty to easily record lectures and supplemental content for their classes. The Studio includes a whiteboard, a lightboard, and a TV for presenting. This studio was made possible by a collaboration between Audio Visual Services, Libraries, and CETL. Please use the online registration to reserve the space.
Finally, join one of our Faculty Learning Communities. CETL is facilitating two FLCs based on books, the Part-Time Faculty have a dedicated FLC to discuss teaching and learning, and the USG Chancellor’s Learning Scholars are here for another year! We have four scholars who have each chosen different topics. All four are accepting new faculty for this school year.
Feel free to reach out to CETL with any of your teaching needs. We have resources on our webpage regarding pedagogy, GHC specific, and technology (D2L and Zoom). We are happy to help. Also, check out our website (cetl.highlands.edu) for programs and services. Contact us anytime: cetl@highlands.edu
Have a great first week!
