IT Policy Updates – October 2020

The following IT policies have been updated and approved by the October session of President’s Cabinet:

IT Acceptable Use Policy (IT.PO.100) – This policy sets forth the principles that govern appropriate use of systems and information technology resources at Georgia Highlands College (GHC). This policy serves as a general framework for the information security program at GHC with supporting policies providing additional details about the administrative and technical safeguards for systems and information technology resources owned or operated by the institution.

IT Acceptable Use Standard (IT.ST.100) – This document describes the standards for appropriate use of information technology and related information resources including, but not limited to, computing hardware, software, networks, data, and telephones.

IT Identity Theft Prevention Policy (IT.PO.510) – This policy establishes an Identity Theft Prevention Program designed to detect, prevent, and mitigate identity theft in connection with the collection or maintenance of financial or personal data within one or more systems owned or operated by Georgia Highlands College and to provide for continued administration of the program in compliance with Part 681 of Title 16 of the Code of Federal Regulations implementing Sections 114 and 315 of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) of 2003.

IT Identity Theft Prevention Standard (IT.PO.510) – The following examples of red flags, as defined by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), are indicators of fraud or identity theft. These examples constitute Georgia Highlands College’s (GHC) baseline for detecting red flags. The Identity Theft Prevention Program may develop and disseminate supplemental guidance on red flags, when appropriate. Any red flag or situation closely resembling a red flag identified by GHC’s Identity Theft Prevention Program shall be documented by the designated Privacy Officer and investigated in a timely fashion.
