Job Description Summary This position directs the operations of the Department of Dental Hygiene. This includes the Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene and Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene.

Key Qualifications • Graduate degree related to the occupational field, doctorate preferred
• Administrative experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and /department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience
• Un-encumbered license as RDH in Georgia
• Clinical dental hygiene experience, 3-5 years
Key Responsibilities • Collaborates with Dean of Health Sciences and full-time faculty and staff to establish annual goals and objectives; mentors and support faculty and staff; completes performance evaluations; recommends merit raises
• Collaborates with the Dean of Health Sciences in reviewing and recommending full-time faculty for tenure or promotion as appropriate; managing the pre- and post-tenure evaluation process
• Collaborates with Dean of Health Sciences in directing program accreditation and re-accreditation activities
• Prepares and instructs courses in the curriculum
• Recruits, screens and hires part-time faculty; mentors and evaluates part-time faculty
• Completes classroom observations of full- and part-time faculty
• Develops initial course schedules; revises and adapts schedules as needed; distributes schedule to full-time faculty for consideration and class selection; submits schedule for publication; assigns courses to part-time faculty; negotiates and alters class assignments and teaching loads for full- and part-time faculty
• Monitors enrollment during registration
• Maintains statistics of number of class sections and average class sizes
• Monitors graduation trends and statistics for accreditation requirements to include enrollment, completion/retention of ASDH and BSDH students
• Collaborates with faculty to develop, evaluate and revise curricula; ensures assessment activities are conducted in a timely manner
• Coordinates textbook and software selection for dental hygiene courses
• Collaborates with Dean of Health Sciences to coordinates technology needs for instruction
• Plans and leads Dental Hygiene faculty meetings
• Serves on college committees as assigned
• Processes and resolves complaints from students, parents, and other interested parties
• Develops and administers the Dental Hygiene budget
• Recruits students for both the Associate and Bachelor degree programs
• Provides advising for students in both online and hands-on programs
• Hires, supervises, and evaluates the departmental administrative assistant position as needed
• Performs related duties

• Knowledge of Georgia Board of Dentistry rules and regulations
• Knowledge of American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation
• Knowledge of institutional policies and procedures
• Knowledge of course scheduling procedures
• Knowledge of college human resource policies
• Knowledge of online instruction and course development
• Skill in the preparation of clear and accurate reports
• Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions
• Skill in oral and written communication
