Personnel Changes in the Libraries and College Testing Division

The library will be experiencing some personnel changes in the comings weeks.

Christin Collins and Jenni Jacobs at our Paulding Library will be heading to Kennesaw State University at the end of July to assume new positions. While I am sure we are all sad to see them leave, this represents a significant advancement for their careers. It is my hope you will join me in offering them congratulations and well wishes.

With their departure, the Division of Libraries and College Testing has taken this opportunity to revisit our organizational structure. In this process, we have created a group of Campus Librarian positions. These individuals will lead the individual library in day-to-day operations and serve on a library leadership team. We aim to create a more responsive and agile library system to respond to the future needs of GHC.

With this in mind, I have appointed Laura Gargis the Paulding Campus Librarian, effective August 1st. Her charges are to provide day-to-day oversight of the Paulding Library, integrate it into the student experience at the instructional site, join the library leadership team, and oversee the developing outreach and innovation working group.

Karin Bennedsen becomes the Douglasville Campus Librarian, effective August 1st. This role will require her to manage the day-to-day work of the Douglasville Library and focus on improving the student experience there. She will also serve on the developing library leadership team.

Carmel Brunson will become the Testing Coordinator and Librarian, effective August 1st. Her duties will focus primarily on testing, customer service, and serving on the library leadership team. In this role, she will work to develop more sustainable workflows for the testing department and grow our offerings.

We will begin a search for a Cartersville Campus Librarian effective immediately. Katie Bridges will chair the search committee, consisting of Jessica Lindberg, Melanie Vincent, and Betsy Clark. This person will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Cartersville Library, integration of it into the student experience, and oversight of the developing assessment and user experience working group. S/he will serve on the soon to be formed library leadership team.

Susan Vines will continue in her role as Assistant Director helping me in the operations of the division as a whole. In my transition to Dean, she has been invaluable. During this time, she will be helping form the library leadership team and assist the newly created campus librarians to develop into a leadership role.

During this time of transition, I ask for your patience and open minds. As always, we stand ready to provide library and testing services to the entirety of our GHC community.
