An estimated 84 million Americans are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes, a disease that can lead to serious complications like kidney disease, blindness, and amputation. But a type 2 diabetes diagnosis doesn’t have to be in you or your loved one’s future—it can be prevented or delayed with healthy lifestyle changes. Learning your risk is the first step.
That’s why today we recognize American Diabetes Association Alert Day and encourage everyone to learn their risk by taking the Type 2 Diabetes Risk Test. Here’s how you can help:
- Help Yourself: By answering questions such as, “Do you have a family history of diabetes,” and “Are you physically active,” you can learn your type 2 diabetes risk in just 60 seconds.http://www.diabetes.org/are-you-at-risk/diabetes-risk-test/?utm_source=alert-day-samsung-em-1-032618&utm_medium=email&utm_content=take-risk-test-btn&utm_campaign=ALERT
- Help Others: With one in three Americans at risk for type 2 diabetes, we hope that once you take the test, you will share it with your friends and family.
- Help the mission: Need extra motivation? This year for Alert Day, Samsung will donate $5 per Risk Test taken up to $50,000. These funds make a difference for the millions of Americans living with diabetes, and go toward American Diabetes Association programs like research, advocacy, camp, and more.
