ASF trip takes students, faculty, staff to Montgomery

Georgia Highland’s 32nd annual trip to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival took 54 students, faculty, staff and their guests to Montgomery April 22-23.

All of GHC’s campuses were represented in the Humanities Division and Student Life sponsored event.

Trip participants visited FDR’s Little White House in Warm Springs, saw a lively performance of the musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” at the Faulkner University Dinner Theater, and enjoyed a lavish production of “The Tempest” at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Since Sunday was Shakespeare’s birthday, his statue in the ASF lobby was wearing a party hat and cupcakes were served in the lobby after the play.

Rainy weather Sunday morning meant lunch had to be inside instead of on the ASF grounds, but the group worked around the weather and hardly got wet at all. The sun was back out Sunday afternoon, and rain didn’t start up again until after the bus was unloaded back at the Floyd campus.

ASF will feature multiple plays in May and the musical “Mary Poppins” in July. Anyone who is interested may find more information at www.asf.net.
