GHC Softball Records 100th Win

Melissa Wood records 100th win as a head coach and GHC Softball earns 100th win in program history with sweep over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Saturday night.

The Chargers won game one 2-1 with Rebecca Meade recording the win after throwing seven complete innings, allowing just three hits, and one unearned run with one strikeout. The Chargers two runs came across in the 3rd inning on a Madison Gianfala walk, Mackenzy McFarland sac bunt, Lauren Womack hit, and sacrifice RBI’s from Andria Booth and Shayla Smith.

The Chargers won another close game by a score of 3-1 in the nightcap. GHC pushed across a run in the first with three walks and an RBI hit by Hannah Wills. ABAC would keep the Chargers scoreless until the fourth inning when Mackenzy McFarland hit her second clutch homerun in two days, which also plated Wills who reached on a walk. Micayla McCoy would earn the win, allowing one earned run in 3.2 innings of work with six strikeouts and three hits. Meade would close out the last 3.1 innings and get the save allowing no runs, two strikeouts, and scattering three hits.

The Chargers are now 22-5 on the year and 6-2 in conference. GHC Softball will be back on the road this Friday and Saturday for another tough conference double-double against South Georgia and East Georgia. Games will be streamed via Facebook Live.
