The Chargers (31-1) survived an inspired  South Georgia State Hawks squad to pull away late in the second half and came away with a 101 – 91 win. GHC had their largest lead of the first half at the 14:25 mark when the Chargers went up 11-3. That would be their largest lead until late in the second half. South Georgia State keep the game close with the hot shooting from the 3 point line, shooting a red hot 7/13 for 53.8% in the first half alone, tying the game up at 43 and the end of the first half. The Hawks took their first lead of the night early in the second half 50-49, extending their lead to their largest of the night 74-68. 

GHC found their way late in the second half behind a 14-2 run to get to their largest lead of the night 95-82 and go on to seal the win and advance to the NJCAA Region XVII Championship game.

The Chargers found a way to battle back behind a  great effort from Ty Cockfield who led all GHC scorers with 29 points, followed by Ty’lik Evans with 21 points.  Kyvon Davenport added 14 points. “South Georgia State had a great effort tonight and got us out of our game early,” “They shot the ball extremely well , but our two point guards Cockfield and Evans were spectacular down to stretch when we need them the most,” said Phil Gaffney Chargers Head Coach. 

In the first game of the night  South Georgia Tech defeated  Albany Tech to advance to the Championship game and take on the Chargers. The Championship game will once again be at the Corral, tip off 4:00pm with an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Championship on the line.
