Understand Me: Cross-cultural Communication

Join the Center for University Learning on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw Campus, in KSU Center, Room 174 from 9AM – 1:00PM for Understand Me: Cross-cultural Communication!

 Explore how stereotypes of other cultures (varying from other countries, to work groups) are formed and perpetuated, as well as techniques to prevent stereotypes from negatively affecting professional and personal relationships. This session is highly entertaining and interactive and incorporates “Bafa Bafa,” a cross-cultural simulation game.

Participants in this course will:
– Build awareness of how cultural differences can profoundly impact relations and interactions with others.
– Examine their own bias and focus on how they perceive differences.
– Learn how stereotypes are developed, barriers created, and misunderstandings magnified.
– Explore strategies for dealing with cross-cultural differences, how to prevent miscommunications and how to build understanding.
