Nobody Quits Like Georgia

Every year, tobacco use (second-hand smoke notwithstanding) kills more people than alcohol, automobile accidents, AIDS, illegal drugs, murders, and suicides combined.

Though Georgia has made great strides to curb tobacco addition, nearly 19% of our adults in our state still smoke while the number of smokers nationwide has fallen to 15% (new data from Centers of Disease Control and Prevention). The vast majority of Georgia smokers have tried at least once to quit, but only 4 – 7% are able to quit without support. Many of these would-be quitters may be unaware of the support that exists to help them in their fight.

That’s why Georgia Highlands College – along with the University System of Georgia – is joining together with more than 40 other organizations to launch “Nobody Quits Like Georgia” on November 16 with week-long events across the state to help connect Georgians with critical quit-smoking support.
