Charger Softball Sweep Conference Foe Darton State

Chargers come off a week without being on the dirt and sweep conference opponent Darton College, winning game one 5-2 and game two 5-1. The sweep brings GHC to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in conference.

In game one Brandi Hughes went the distance on the mound going all seven inning with seven strikeouts. Sophomore catcher Sierra Cagle went 2 for 4 with a 2-run bomb over right field along with Kayleigh Medlin, also 2 for 4, adding an RBI.

Game two featured freshman Courtney Bailey in a seven inning complete game only giving up one run. Karlie Jarrett and Liz Prance showed impressive defensive skills on the left side of the infield while first baseman Kayleigh Medlin had another stellar performance at the plate blasting a 3-run homer over left center fence and finishing with four of the team’s five RBI’s in game two.

Next up for the Chargers are conference games at Gordon College before a week long trip to the warm weather in Florida. The Chargers will try and make-up a two-game DH against Cleveland State in the next few weeks. Check Facebook, Twitter, or the website at www.ghcchargers.com for updates.

Huge shout-out to the Bartow Rec Department for making sure we had a field to play on today and our fans for making it out to the games. Go Chargers!
