Partial Solar Eclipse

Hi,

As you probably have heard, a partial solar eclipse will be visible from GA today (10/23) around sunset. The eclipse will begin around 6 PM, and more and more of the sun will be eclipsed by the moon until the sun sets at 6:57 PM.

Although we do not plan to observe from the Bishop Observatory (our western horizon is blocked by trees and cloud cover is predicted to increase in the late afternoon) you can watch from any place with an unobstructed view of the west. Although one should never look directly at the sun, the eclipse can be safely viewed with a pinhole projector or welder’s glass. Check out the link below for more details.

Good luck and hope for clear skies!
