The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords student certain rights with respect to their educational records. These records are available only to (1) employees who have a legitimate educational need to access them, (2) other parties that have obtained written permission of the student, or (3) when required by law.
Directory information is information contained in the educational records of a student that would not generally be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed. Typically, directory information includes information such as name, address, telephone listing, date and place of birth, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, and dates of attendance. A school may disclose “directory information” to third parties without consent unless the Student requests the nondisclosure of their directory information in writing to the Registrar’s Office.
Effective 12/31/2024 GHC has designated the following categories of information as Directory Information:

• Enrollment status (e.g., full-time, part-time)
• Participation in officially recognized activities and sports
