Disaster Simulation Today at Floyd Campus Lakeview Building

ATTENTION: GHC will host a simulation exercise today, April 23, from 8AM to 5PM at the Floyd Campus. The daylong exercise for second-year nursing students will feature a local emergency management presence at the northwest parking lot and restricted access to the Lakeview Building.

This important educational event will allow our nursing students to apply triage and critical thinking skills in a real-world scenario with the help of volunteers and local emergency management.

As part of this immersive simulation, there will be loud noises, including sirens and emergency sounds, throughout the day. Please be aware of this activity and understand it is part of a controlled, supervised training experience designed to enhance student learning and public preparedness.

To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, the following safety measures will be in place:

  • Metal detectors will be in use at the entrance of the Lakeview Building.
  • Weapons are strictly prohibited inside the building. Students participating in campus carry must leave all weapons securely locked in their vehicles during the event.

We appreciate your cooperation as we prioritize a secure and supportive environment for this meaningful learning experience. Your understanding helps us uphold our commitment to student development, safety, and community engagement.

If you have questions or need additional information, please reach out to your course faculty or program leadership.

Thank you for your support and attention to these safety guidelines.
