Georgia Highlands College has joined JED Campus, a nationwide initiative of The Jed Foundation (JED) designed to guide schools through a collaborative process of comprehensive systems, program and policy development with customized support to build upon existing student mental health, substance abuse and suicide prevention efforts.
GHC’s interdisciplinary, campus-wide team will assess, support and implement improvements with assistance from the JED Campus team. GHC’s JED Core Team – Angie Wheelus, Tara Holdampf, Sarah Coakley, Krissy Shanahan, Clifton Puckett, Dorothy Morgan, Jesse Bishop, Stephanie Stewart, Sherri Beideck, and Chief Horace.
After taking an in-depth, confidential assessment evaluating our current mental health promotion, substance abuse and suicide prevention efforts, JED’s clinical team provided a comprehensive feedback report identifying successes and opportunities for enhancement.
A JED expert will visit our campus on June 29th and 30th to develop a strategic plan tailored to GHC’s individual needs that will serve as a roadmap to implement enhancements over the course of the program.
In recognition of our efforts, GHC will receive the JED Campus membership seal to signify our commitment to student well-being.
