In the meantime, do you know a student who is a great candidate for one of our “Big 3” awards? If so, fill out the form here, and the Student Affairs Committee will vote on the nominees! Winners will be announced during the Honors Night event.
Descriptions for the Big 3 Awards are below:
GHC Steve Burns Service Award: recognizes a student for demonstrating a continuing support and regard for GHC and its surrounding communities. The selection committee will consider the following characteristics: 1. Shown exemplary dedication to campus and community service projects through participation in charity and philanthropic events throughout the year, both on campus and in surrounding communities; 2. An active participant in College organizations and activities, not necessarily in an elected or appointed position; 3. Consistent concern for fellow students and the world around them; 4. Demonstrated a cooperative and compassionate attitude with fellow students, faculty and staff.
GHC Spirit Award: recognizes a student for demonstrating a continuing support and regard for GHC and its community. The selection committee will consider the following characteristics: 1. An active participant in College organizations and campus activities, not necessarily in an elected or appointed position; 2. Exhibits consistent concern for fellow students; 3. Demonstrates cooperative attitude with fellow students, faculty, and staff; 4. Promotes and projects pride in GHC to fellow students, faculty, staff, and the community.
GHC Leadership Award: recognizes a student who has shown a high degree of managerial, motivational, and leadership ability in an elected or appointed position within the College. The selection committee will consider the following qualities and skills: 1. Motivates others, understands strengths and encourages the use of those strengths; 2. Formulates action plans, initiates and completes projects to achieve group goals; 3. Effective communication skills; 4. Places confidence in others for the mutual benefit of the group.
